Cairns Regional Council is searching for our region's most inspirational women.
Nominations are open for the 2025 Cairns International Women's Day Awards, with winners to be announced at a special event at Tanks Arts Centre on Saturday 8 March.
Cairns Mayor Amy Eden said the awards were an important opportunity to recognise women who have made a real difference to the lives of others.
"These awards are an opportunity to raise the profile of women, celebrate achievements, and showcase successes," Cr Eden said.
"Across our region there are countless women who are making highly valuable contributions to our community.
"If you know a woman who has made a valuable contribution to the community, be that through sport, social and welfare contributions, or the arts, I strongly encourage you to nominate them for an award.
"These women are positive role models, and it is important to that we acknowledge their efforts."
There are three award categories, which are:
- Woman of the Year (25 years and over, as of 1 January 2025)
- Young Woman of the Year award (under 25, as of 1 January 2025)
- Women's Recognition Award ($2000 prize).
Tickets to the International Women's Day Awards event, at Tank 5, Tanks Arts Centre, on Saturday 8 March from 11am are now available for purchase from ticketlink.com.au.
Tickets are $45 per person, which includes a glass of sparkling wine on arrival and a curated brunch, with an exclusive Q&A session and performance by multi-award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer Sarah Blasko.
