Young artists aged 12-25 across Corangamite Shire are invited to submit their work for the Corangamite Youth Creative Exhibition: What Makes You Smile.
The Exhibition is a highlight of Youth Fest 2023. It will showcase young artists from the local area, exploring "what makes you smile" and promoting positive mental health and wellbeing.
FReeZA and Events Officer, Mary Bell, said this is great opportunity for young people to explore their talent and inspirations.
"Let your imagination run wild and share your sources of inspiration and strength with us," Mrs Bell said.
"Your work will be displayed at the prestigious Camperdown Courthouse Gallery, where you'll have the opportunity to attend the opening night event."
The exhibition will run for all of September at the Camperdown Courthouse Gallery, with the opening night on Friday 1 September from 6 – 7.30 pm. It is being organised with the help of a committee of young volunteers.
Committee member and Timboon local, Alex Baker, said up to 30 young artists will be selected for the exhibition.
"This showcase is all about giving an outlet to young artists, whether they already have a following, or are displaying their work for the first time. We're looking for about 20 – 30 pieces and invite anyone to submit, no matter their skill level or diversity," he said.
"It's a great chance for any young and aspiring artists in Corangamite to get their work in front of a local audience and build a name for themselves."
Artists are encouraged to express themselves through various mediums such as photography, sculpture, drawing, print making, illustration, painting, poetry and digital media, keeping the maximum size to A3.
The Corangamite Creative Youth Exhibition is funded by Youth Central. Expressions of interest can be made at corangamite.vic.gov.au/CreativeExhibition until Wednesday 16 August, with all work to be submitted by Sunday 27 August.
