Calling On Our Community To Shape Vision For Dromana

Together with the community, we are working to create a vision for the Greater Dromana area that sets the direction for the area's future. We're inviting all Dromana and Safety Beach residents to participate in the discussion and share their ideas.

Greater Dromana has grown rapidly over the last decade, and the Shire has many plans in place for the area, as well as Shire-wide strategies that benefit the surrounding areas.

The draft Shaping Greater Dromana Plan provides a comprehensive overview of everything that's happening now and in the future, including:

  • Dromana Township Plan
  • Dromana Community Facilities Project
  • Council and Wellbeing Plan
  • Open Space Strategy
  • Our Coast Our Future Coastal Management Strategy
  • We all belong: Inclusion Strategy
  • Pedestrian Access Strategy
  • and many more!

The draft Plan provides a strategic framework for Greater Dromana, outlining how various Shire-led initiatives contribute to shaping the area's future including: environmental protection and climate resilience, sustainable transport and movement networks, community infrastructure, public open space and recreation, local economic development and affordable and diverse housing.

One of the current projects mentioned in the Plan is the Dromana Community Facilities Project. The local community provided feedback on the project in November 2023. The feedback about the management and future of a range of community facilities is now undergoing review, and the results will be reported back to the community in the coming months.

Have your say

Head to our website or come to one of our community pop ups to get a full understanding of everything that's in the pipeline for the Greater Dromana area. Let us know if you think the current plans and strategies cover the area's needs. Is there anything missing, for example a community-led project that's not on our radar? We would also like to hear your vision for the Greater Dromana area.

In addition to seeking feedback on the draft Plan, the Shire is initiating early community engagement on the Dromana and Arthurs Seat Escarpment Plan and the Hillview Community Reserve Master Plan and the Parkdale property (commonly referred to as Pat's Paddock).

We want to hear how the community currently uses the escarpment area, Hillview Community Reserve and Pat's Paddock and how they would like to see these areas used and developed into the future.

We know the community-spirit is strong in Dromana and we'll make sure every voice will be heard by Council.

Meet us in person at:

  • Dromana Community Market, 25 May, 8am – 1pm
  • Dromana IGA, 13 June, 1:30 – 5pm.

Go to mornpen.vic.gov.au/ShapingDromana. Consultation is open until 21 June.

We intend to create a unified vision for the Greater Dromana area through collaboration with the community, partner organisations and government. This collective vision will guide cooperative efforts to enhance the Greater Dromana area as an ideal place to live, work and visit."

"With our community's input, we can make sure the Greater Dromana area is well-planned and sustainable with a healthy, thriving, and connected community.
