Police have charged a 20-year-old man from Cambridge with multiple firearm and drug related offences.
Around 11.10 am yesterday, members of Bellerive and Hobart CIB were conducting targeted patrols in Rokeby when they observed a person of interest in a vehicle. The vehicle was intercepted and a quantity of illegal drugs were located, resulting in the arrest of the man.
The Southern Drug and Firearms Squad conducted further searches at two addresses linked to the man and a number of illegal items were located and seized including a stolen Lithgow slazenger .22 rifle, stolen BSA .22 sawn off rifle, taser, and a quantity of ammunition and MDMA.
The man was charged with several firearms and drug offences including possession of stolen firearms x 2, possess shortened firearm, and trafficking in controlled substances (major).
He was bailed with conditions to appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.
