Canada Pours $181.8K into Northern Ontario Youth Internships

FedNor funds will help develop and expand specialized young talent in the region while also supporting innovation and research

The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced a FedNor investment of $181,800 in support of four youth internship positions in Northern Ontario.

Of the funding, a total of $110,000 will go to the Northern Policy Institute to support two distinct youth internship positions focused on transportation analysis and research. The youth interns will work to refine transportation priorities and assess the potential of key transportation investments in Northern Ontario.

An investment of $36,800 will support a youth internship position with the Lakehead University Agricultural Research Station, which works to foster innovation and expand agri-food research in Northwestern Ontario. The position will support research projects and stakeholder engagement.

The remaining $35,000 will support the Centre for Research and Innovation in the Bio-Economy (CRIBE) in creating a policy analyst youth internship position focused on forest bio-economics.

These positions will provide specialized training and valuable experience to four youth interns, helping to develop young talent in Northern Ontario.In addition to the four youth internships, these investments will help support the creation of multiple reports and studies relating potential innovation and improvements in several critical areas.
