Canada to Host Caribbean Development Bank's 54th Meeting

Next week, from June 17 to June 20, 2024, Canada will host the 54th Annual Meeting of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) in Ottawa with the theme Partnerships for Resilient Prosperity to advance a common vision to address global threats such as climate change.

The Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of International Development and the current chairman of the CDB's Board of Governors, will chair this meeting. The 4-day event will welcome over 300 participants from around the world, including government officials from both Canada and member Caribbean countries, representatives of partner organizations from Canada and the Caribbean, Indigenous representatives, youth delegates, academics and special invitees.

The event's opening and closing ceremonies will be livestreamed on Global Affairs Canada's international development social media accounts, and they will also be open to media.

As the CDB's flagship event, the annual meeting will emphasize the importance of regional and international collaboration as a driving force for sustainable development. Conversations will focus on climate change, gender equality, economic growth, private sector engagement and financing, disaster preparedness and much more.
