Canadian Coast Guard SAR Stations in Quebec Close

Canadian Coast Guard

Québec, Quebec - The Canadian Coast Guard's seasonal search and rescue stations in Québec, Tadoussac, Kegaska, Rivière-au-Renard and Havre-Saint-Pierre will close between November 26 and 30, 2024. The Cap-aux-Meules station will close on December 31, 2024.

Once winter sets in, Canadian Coast Guard rescue boats can no longer be used in the St. Lawrence River and Gulf of St. Lawrence, given the prevailing navigation conditions, which include freezing spray and ice.

Winter search and rescue operations are carried out by the Canadian Coast Guard using icebreakers and other available vessels in the area, as required. We also work with partners such as the Department of National Defence, who can provide aircrafts as needed for search and rescue operations.

Maritime emergencies can be reported to the Canadian Coast Guard at any time at 1-800-463-4393 or through channel 16 on VHF radios.
