Capital Chemist Southlands was congratulated in Parliament today as the overall winner of the 2024 Guild Pharmacy of the Year.
Federal Member for Bean, David Smith MP, said Capital Chemist Southlands stood out for its comprehensive approach to healthcare and pharmacy services.
"It's part of a great group of pharmacies," Mr Smith said. "The team led by Stacey Fuller and Louise McLean has built a pharmacy that not only serves the community but also leads the way in professional innovation and effective business management."
This acknowledgment follows Capital Chemist Southlands' win at the 2024 APP Conference at the Gold Coast in early March. As well as being named the overall winner, Capital Chemist Southlands also took out the Business Management category.
Louise McLean Pharmacist and co-owner of Capital Southlands said she was overwhelmed at her pharmacy being named the winner.
"This is an incredible achievement for our team and it's confirmation our team is as awesome as we know they are," Louise said.
"We have an incredible team that embraces the rich diversity in our community, and we have a lot of staff who ensure there are rainbows around the pharmacy at all times.
"Being nominated for Guild Pharmacy of the Year by one of our customers was probably the best piece of feedback we have ever received.
"I just really wish I knew who that person was just to say, 'thank you.'"
Fellow Pharmacist and co-owner of Capital Chemist Southlands Stacey Fuller said she accepted the award on behalf of the staff at the pharmacy. "You bring compassion and kindness to the workplace," she said.
ACT Branch President of the Pharmacy Guild Simon Blacker said that Capital Chemist Southlands is the fourth ACT pharmacy to win this prestigious accolade in eleven years which is wonderful recognition of the outstanding professional service that community pharmacies provide to patients in the ACT.
Capital Chemist Charnwood won Pharmacy of the Year in 2014 followed by Capital Chemist Chisholm in 2020, Cooleman Court Pharmacy in 2022, and Capital Chemist Southlands in 2024.
