Cannabis seized at two Helensvale homes

Police from the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol group (RAP) have charged two men after allegedly locating over 20 cannabis plants in Helensvale yesterday, Queensland Police say.

Around 10.30am, police conducted search warrants at two homes, one on Minden Crescent and the other on Cadell Street.

It will be alleged that 12 live plants and several containers of dried cannabis were located at the first address. Drug utensils, cannabis seeds and 13 plants were located at the Cadell Street residence.

Two Helensvale men aged 58 and 37 were charged with one count each of producing and possessing dangerous drugs and possess drug utensil.

The 58-year-old is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates court on February 28 and the 37-year-old on March 3.

RAP Officer in charge, Senior Sergeant Mat Kelly said seizing the drugs meant keeping them off the streets.

"Every drug seizure whether it be a small or large amount means less drugs in our community. Police will continue to target the people that produce, supply and traffic dangerous drugs on the Gold Coast."

"We use a lot of strategies to locate and prosecute drug offenders, and we appreciate information and tip-off’s from the community. If you notice any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood please call Crime Stoppers." Senior Sergeant Kelly said.
