A woman has been arrested after a low speed pursuit in the Northern suburbs overnight.
Just after midnight, Thursday 20 August, police spotted a gold Holden Commodore on Kanimbla Crescent and followed the car in anticipation to pull it over. The car proceeded to drive through a reserve toward Turner Drive.
As the car was travelling through the reserve its back wheel sustained damage, however the car exited the reserve onto Turner Drive then headed north to Yorktown Road. Police activated their emergency lights to stop the car but it failed to pull over and a low speed pursuit ensued.
Police followed the car onto Blair Park Drive then Carinya Street, before it drove into another reserve between Carinya and Chowilla Court.
On Chowilla Court the car collided with a stationary excavator. Police stopped their car behind Commodore before it reversed into the police car causing damage.
The Commodore managed to continue driving crashing into a parked car as it drove through a third reserve and on to Callanna Court. The car suffered mechanical failure and came to a stop on Currawong Crescent. The driver attempted to run away on foot but was quickly apprehended by police.
The 20-year-old Craigmore woman was taken to hospital as a precaution, and is expected to be charged with a number of serious offences including dangerous driving to escape police pursuit, failing to stop, driving unregistered, uninsured and disqualified.
