Car intercepted in Moonee Ponds with firearm, drugs and cash inside

Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a firearm, weapons, drugs and cash were allegedly discovered in a vehicle in Moonee Ponds this morning.

Police observed a vehicle allegedly driving at speed along Orford Street about 2am.

They intercepted the vehicle and found an allegedly loaded firearm, other weapons, drugs and cash.

The man was also allegedly driving without a license.

A 42-year-old Maribyrnong man was arrested at the scene.

Police executed a warrant this afternoon at a property in Maribyrnong.

He's been charged with firearms, weapons, and drug offences.

The man will appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court tonight.
