Police are searching for a man who stole a car at knifepoint at Parramatta overnight, only to crash 200m down the road.
Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command responded to reports of a carjacking on Boundary Street about 10pm (Tuesday 29 June 2021).
Police have been told a 35-year-old woman was getting out of her Honda Accord when she was approached by a man armed with a knife who threatened her, demanding her phone and car keys.
She complied and the man got into her car and drove away, only to crash it into a fence about 200m away, before fleeing on foot.
A crime scene was established and assistance was sought from the Dog Unit and Public Order Riot Squad.
As inquiries continue, police wish to speak with a man described to be of Caucasian appearance, aged in his early 20s, about 175cm tall and of a skinny build and fair hair.
He was wearing a black hoodie, khaki pants, and a black face mask at the time.
The woman was shaken but not injured.
