Members of the public pulled a man from a burning car at Tiddy Widdy Beach overnight.
About 11pm Saturday 16 September emergency services were called to Hosking Road after a Proton sedan crashed into a parked truck and burst into flames.
Quick thinking locals were able to pull the driver, a 28-year-old Ardrossan man, from the car to safety. CFS extinguished the blaze, but the car was completely destroyed.
The man was taken to Maitland Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Police would like to thank the locals who rendered assistance to the man and stayed at the scene until emergency services arrived.
