Carbon Grants Program Reopens for Second Round

  • More than $4 million to be made available for emissions-reduction technologies
  • Funding streams open for feasibility studies and pilot projects
  • Applications are now open

The Cook Labor Government is continuing its support for innovative climate solutions with more than $4 million in grant funding now available to organisations developing technologies that can help remove, reduce or offset hard-to-abate emissions created by industrial processes.

Western Australia is home to the largest share of heavy industries in Australia, with more than half of the State's emissions contributed by facilities regulated under the Commonwealth Government's Safeguard Mechanism.

Through the Carbon Innovation Grants Program, the State Government is supporting projects that can limit industrial emissions, be commercialised and help contribute to WA's overall target of net zero emissions by 2050, with funding streams available for feasibility studies and pilot projects.

Grants worth $4.24 million were awarded to nine organisations under the program's first round, with about $4.35 million to be made available via the program's second round.

Applications are now open. For more information, head to: https://www.wa.gov.au/service/community-services/grants-and-subsidies/carbon-innovation-grants-program

As stated by Climate Action Minister Reece Whitby:

"While some might see climate change as a challenge, our Government sees it as an opportunity for Western Australians to do what they're best at - innovate, adapt, and ultimately, succeed.

"These grants will do more than just support decarbonisation, they will provide vital funding to businesses that will shape how our State's economy responds to climate change and continues to grow in the coming decades."
