Cardinia Shire Council is seeking membership applications for its Multicultural Advisory Group.
Council's advisory groups play a crucial role in shaping the policies and initiatives, and influencing the decision-making, of Cardinia Shire Council.
The Cardinia Multicultural Advisory Group aims to foster a welcoming and inclusive culture by improving communication and partnerships with multicultural communities, ensuring diverse perspectives are included in feedback to Council, and guiding the Cultural Diversity Action Plan.
Members of this group:
- provide valuable input into Council's policy and decision-making processes.
- assist in identifying effective communication and engagement strategies for the Shire's multicultural communities.
- support the Council in building a culture that celebrates diversity and inclusivity.
- enhance existing partnerships and explore new opportunities to support multicultural communities.
- monitor and inform the implementation of the Cultural Diversity Action Plan.
- foster a group culture that values diverse perspectives and community views.
Eligibility
To be considered for the Multicultural Advisory Group, you must:
- Live in Cardinia Shire and have an ethnic or multicultural background or represent community groups or organisations that serve multicultural communities in Cardinia Shire.
- Commit to attending regular meetings and participating in discussions.
Time commitment
The volunteer role lasts for two years with a review after the first year. Members attend bi-monthly meetings on the 3rd Thursday from 5.30pm to 7pm. Meetings are held in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and online participation.
