Caring For New Trees In Hot Weather

Summer is on the way and you may notice a newly planted tree on your nature strip struggling in extremely hot weather.

We've planted approximately 2000 new street and park trees across Bayside over the past planting season.

If you spot a new tree looking dry or wilting, taking a few minutes to water it can make all the difference.

Giving the new trees a drink can help them thrive and create cooler conditions for everyone in Bayside during hot weather.

The new trees are helping us achieve a greener, cooler urban environment in Bayside.

Do you want an additional tree on your nature strip?

If you would like an additional tree on your nature strip, you can request for a tree to be planted in the next planting season which runs from approximately April to October each year.

The site will be inspected, and if it is deemed suitable, you will be advised when the planting will take place, and what species will be planted.

Every newly planted tree is part of a 2-year establishment program which includes watering, mulching and formative pruning. Each tree is planted with a black plastic water well at its base and is mulched and staked.
