Carlton Gardens Primary School Expands And Shines

VIC Premier

More students in Melbourne's inner north are ready to enjoy modern, world-class learning facilities, thanks to the Allan Labor Government.

Minister for Education Ben Carroll today revealed Carlton Gardens Primary School's massive extension and upgrade, which includes a new sustainable building with flexible teaching and learning spaces which has created capacity for an extra 150 students.

Accessible bridge links connecting the new building to existing ones have also been put in place, plus a covered play area with external seating and landscaping for children to enjoy, and renovations to the heritage building and first floor of the other existing building.

The upgrade has been delivered with an investment of $10.59 million - a share in the Labor Government's $130.1 million Established Areas Program.

The Government is ensuring all Victorian students have access to modern, top-class facilities that are close to home.

Since 2014, the Labor Government invested more than $14.9 billion to build new schools and deliver more than 1,940 school upgrades, creating around 21,200 jobs in construction and associated industries.

The Government is powering ahead to build 100 new schools by 2026 - with 84 of these already open or funded, including 14 set to open next year - as well as an extra $26 million invested to fund the planning of the remaining 100 schools.

As stated by Minister for Education Ben Carroll

"I'm so thrilled to see these new facilities come to life at Carlton Gardens Primary School, where more students will have more space to receive a wonderful education."

"More students than ever now have the facilities and first-class education they deserve, thanks to the Allan Labor Government's record investment in school infrastructure."

As stated by Member for Northern Metropolitan Region Sheena Watt

"The richness and diversity of Carlton is a reason so many Victorians love living here - and having convenient, modern and world-class learning facilities nearby is creating even more opportunities for all local students to learn and thrive."
