Planning is under way for Orange's annual Carols Celebration, with a new venue this year: the Orange Botanic Garden.

The traditional location, the Northcourt behind the library, is part of the construction site for the new Conservatorium of Music.

The Orange Christmas Carols event will be held this year on Saturday 14 December from 6.30pm to 9pm. The regular Northcourt site for the annual carols event is currently the construction site for the new Conservatorium of Music.
Orange Mayor Tony Mileto is pleased the event can be trialed at a new location this year.
"The North Orange neighbourhood is home to thousands of Orange residents, so this is going to be a great opportunity to see how the Carols event can work at a new location that will be very convenient for them," Cr Tony Mileto said.
"The gardens are a place of beauty for many locals who walk there every day. It's going to be a great backdrop to meet up with family and friends and enjoy the music of the season."
Musicians from the Orange Conservatorium of Music will be on-hand to accompany performers on the night. Food stalls and jumping castle attractions will start from 5.30pm.
The Carols event is one of the highlights of a weekend of Christmas celebrations planned for the 13-15 December.
Orange businesses in Summer Street are staging a 'Sip & Shop on Summer ' event on Friday 13 December from 5pm-9pm. The twilight shopping experience will include music, drinks and family fun. The event will focus on the area of Summer Street from Anson Street west to the Village on Summer shopping centre.
The opportunity to shop continues on Sunday 15 December at the annual Rotary Christmas Markets at the Showground.
The traditional community market happens at the Naylor Pavillion at the Orange Showground on the Sunday morning.
