About 7.45pm, a verbal altercation broke out between two parties at a licensed premises on Innesvale Way.
The victim - a man in his 20's - attempted to intervene and was physically assaulted by a group of men.
A second man - in his 40s - who attempted to render assistance, was also physically assaulted by the group.
The group was ushered out of the establishment by bar staff as they continued to be verbally abusive to employees and patrons.
The two victims, both off-duty police officers, received injuries consistent with bruising and swelling.
A number of people were present in the venue at the time of the incident.
