Carrum Beach water quality update

EPA Victoria continues to advise people to avoid contact with the water at Carrum and Bonbeach beaches, Eumemmering Creek downstream of Bangholme Rd and Patterson River due to potential contamination issues.

Firewater runoff from the paint factory fire in Dandenong South last week may have contributed to contamination in the creek and river while dredging at the mouth of the Patterson River has also affected the water quality at the beaches.

EPA will be doing daily testing at the beaches and further monitoring of creeks and rivers but until the situation improves is advising people to avoid swimming or recreational use of the Carrum and Bonbeach beaches, the creek downstream of Bangholme Rd, the river or any of the retarding basins in the area.
