The City of Casey has welcomed more than $3.5 million in funding, announced today as part of the State Government's 2021-22 Growing Suburbs Fund (GSF), to support three key community projects in Cranbourne North, Pearcedale and Narre Warren South.
Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM said the Growing Suburbs Fund, currently open to 16 Councils, is critical to help address the infrastructure needs of fast-growing communities such as Casey.
Ms Duff and City of Casey CEO Glenn Patterson met with Victorian Minister for Local Government The Hon. Shaun Leane at Littlecroft Family Resource Centre, which will see a major upgrade thanks to the funding.
"As one of Victoria's fastest-growing municipalities and with ageing infrastructure too, we welcome this State Government investment into projects we know will make a difference to many families and communities," Ms Duff said.
Littlecroft Family Resource Centre:
$917,000 (GSF grant), $393,000 (Council contribution)
Popular Littlecroft Family Resource Centre in Narre Warren South, which offers Kindergarten and Maternal and Child Health services will be upgraded and fitted with larger meeting spaces to enable more programs for people of all ages.
Pearcedale Recreation Reserve Pavilion Redevelopment:
$2 million (GSF grant), $2 million (Council)
The ageing Pearcedale Recreation Reserve pavilion will be completely replaced with a $4 million purpose-built community pavilion to support district-level AFL/cricket/netball activities and provide a separate community space, as well as unisex change rooms and amenities to cater for a range of uses.
Woodbine Children's Centre:
$610,000 (GSF grant), $610,000 (Council)
Located in Cranbourne North and built in the late 1980s, Woodbine Children's Centre will be renewed and upgraded to better support Kindergarten and Maternal and Child Health services, and meeting spaces for the community.
City of Casey CEO Glenn Patterson said the upcoming projects at Narre Warren South, Pearcedale and Cranbourne North are important Council assets upon which local communities rely.
"The new Pearcedale Recreation Reserve pavilion is going to make a dramatic difference to the sporting opportunities and pathways for young people, particularly the participation of women," Mr Patterson said.
"We look forward to construction starting from March 2022."
