Members from the Public Order Response Team have seized cash and drugs after they pulled over a motorcycle with alleged false plates in the CBD this morning.
Officers were patrolling the city when they noticed the 2014 Harley Davidson on Elizabeth Street about 2am.
A check of the motorcycle and rider revealed allegedly false plates and that the 43-year-old rider, from Richmond, was also unlicensed.
A subsequent search uncovered more than $35,000 in cash and a quantity of drugs alleged to be methylamphetamine and cannabis. A knuckle duster was also seized.
The man was arrested, interviewed and has been charged with more than 10 offences including:
• traffick commercial quantity of methylamphetamine
• traffick methylamphetamine
• possess methylamphetamine
• possess cannabis
• possess schedule 4 poison namely diazepam
• deal property suspected of being proceeds of crime
• possess prohibited weapon namely knuckle dusters
• unlicensed driving
• display number plate not registered to vehicle
• affix false number plates on vehicle
• commit schedule 1 offence whilst on bail.
The man was refused bail by police and will be directly presented to Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
