Cash And ID Documents Located In Waurn Ponds Warrant

Waurn Ponds police officers have arrested a man and seized cash and documents following a search warrant in Corio on Friday morning.

Officers executed the search warrant at a property on Kosciusko Avenue about 7am on 21 February.

The search was part of an investigation into a phone scam involving an 80-year-old victim.

It is alleged the offender withdrew $1000 from the victim's bank account and used a credit card to purchase $9000 of electrical goods.

Police searched the premises and located $16,000 in cash, identity documents (drivers licences and bank cards) belonging to more than 50 different people, numerous mobile phones, SIM cards and gift cards.

Police arrested a 30-year-old Corio man at the scene.

He has been charged with deception offences and possessing proceeds of crime.

He was bailed to attend the Geelong Magistrates' Court on 22 April.
