Cast Announced For RENT

Rockhampton Regional Council has announced the cast of its 2025 community musical RENT.More than 50 locals auditioned to be part of the show, with eight principal roles and more than 20 ensemble places available.

Selected for lead roles are:

Lachlan Scheuber as Roger Davis

Daniel Hair and Mark Cohen

Grant Wolf-King Whitfield as Tom Collins

Travis Hock as Benjamin Coffin III

Emma McGuire as Joanne Jefferson

Jacob Goves as Angel Dumott Schunard

Alicia Kyriazis as Mimi Marquez

Elyena Belonogoff as Maureen Johnson

In addition to the lead roles, a further 24 auditionees were chosen for the ensemble.

Rockhampton Regional Council Communities, Culture and Heritage spokesperson Cr Drew Wickerson congratulated the successful auditionees.

"Council-produced musicals are a great way for local performers to enhance their skills in a professional environment. In addition to this the productions are a great opportunity for residents to experience a high quality show that is produced entirely with local talent from the performers and the musicians to the costume and backstage teams.

"Rockhampton Regional Council is very proud of the role it plays in ensuring such a valuable community activity continues," he said.

"I congratulate those who have been selected to be in the production and I look forward to seeing it when it opens at the Pilbeam Theatre in March, he said.

Set in the East Village of New York City, RENT by Jonathan Larson, is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Rent has become a pop culture phenomenon, with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.

RENT, directed by Amanda Hock, will be performed at the Pilbeam Theatre in March 2025. Tickets will be going on sale shortly.
