CBSA Seizes Cache of Firearms in St-Anicet Search

On August 6, 2025, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) investigators from the Weapons Smuggling Integrated Enforcement Team (WSIET), assisted by the Sûreté du Québec, executed a search warrant in a residence located in St-Anicet. At the site they found, among other things:

• 180 long guns;

• 1 handgun;

• Several lower and upper receiver assemblies;

• 7 silencers and several high-capacity magazines (35);

• 4 prohibited weapons;

• Thousands of rounds of ammunition;

• CAD$169,000 and USD$30,000;

• 11 electronic devices.

A 65 year old man was arrested and the investigation and analysis of the seized goods continues. Charges will be recommended to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) upon completion of the investigation.

This investigation was initiated in May 2025 following the CBSA's interception of parts for a prohibited firearms in a postal package at Montreal Mail Centre. Research identified the importer as a resident of St-Anicet with a previous customs seizures for a prohibited device, more specifically a silencer.
