Ccl Rescues Stranded Australians

Sydney, 28 May 2024 - Carnival Cruise Line has come to the aid of a group left stranded in Vanuatu, following the collapse of Air Vanuatu. The group, consisting of eight Australians and one New Zealander, were visiting the island of Santo when Air Vanuatu cancelled all flights, leaving them without a way home.

Carnival Cruise Line responded by offering to bring the group home on board Carnival Splendor, allowing them to return safely to Sydney. They boarded the ship on Thursday in Santo and have enjoyed a holiday at sea with 3,000 other guests!

Kara Glamore, Vice President of Carnival Cruise Line Australia said "Helping these people get home safely reflects our commitment to community support and humanitarian aid. We are so pleased to provide this group a safe and enjoyable return home".

Carnival Splendor returned to its home port in Sydney on Tuesday May 28.

This rescue brings the total number of Australian and New Zealand citizens safely returned home from Vanuatu on Carnival Australia ships this month to 29.

Last week, P&O Cruises Australia's Pacific Adventure brought home 20 volunteers, including 16 students who were participating in a Rotary Club's "Paying It Forward" program.

Carnival Cruise Line thanks the Vanuatu Tourism Board and the people of Santo for their assistance.
