Police have released CCTV footage of two robberies that occurred late last year in a bid for assistance from the public.
About 12.30am on Sunday 6 October 2019, two men armed with a sawn-off firearm and a knife entered the gaming room of the Boathouse Tavern on Victoria Road, Taperoo and threatened staff and patrons. The man armed with the firearm jumped the bar demanding cash and threatened staff members.
The second man, armed with a knife, remained on the public side of the bar and directed the staff members to hand him money.
The first suspect is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, 170cm tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black balaclava, a black/white hooded jacket, black pants and black 'Vans' shoes.
The second suspect is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, 160cm tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a black bandana, a dark coloured hooded jumper, dark coloured pants, white sneakers and distinctive white 'Louisville Sluggers' baseball gloves.
The men made off on foot towards Modavia Walk with an amount of cash.
Just after midnight on Thursday 24 October 2019, two men armed with a wheel brace and a metal bar entered the gaming room of the Sussex Hotel on Walkerville Terrace, Walkerville. Both men walked behind the counter and took cash from the cash register and a staff member's bag.
The first man is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, 160 -170cm tall with a stocky build. He was disguised with a clown bandana and was wearing a black hoodie, black track pants, black 'Nike' sneakers and a pair of white 'Louisville Sluggers' baseball gloves. This man was armed with a wheel brace.
The second man is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, 160-170cm tall with a slim build. He was disguised with a black balaclava and was wearing a grey/black 'Nike' hooded jumper, grey track pants and grey 'Nike' sneakers. He was wearing a beige glove on his left hand. This man was armed with a metal bar.
The men made off on foot towards Stephen Terrace.
During both incidents no one suffered any physical injuries.
Detectives from Serious and Organised Crime Branch believe the two robberies are linked due to the similarities of the offences and the description and actions of the suspects. It is also suspected that these incidents are linked to a robbery that occurred at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Queenstown later that morning at about 2.40am.
