Police have released CCTV images after offensive graffiti was sprayed on a synagogue in Sydney's Inner West this morning, during which police believe an arson attempt was also made.

About 7.30am (Saturday 11 January 2025), officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command were notified after graffiti was spray painted on a synagogue on Georgina Street, Newtown.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe two people attended the synagogue around 4.25am today and spray painted graffiti on the fence and building, while also attempting to light the premises on fire.

The pair left the scene a short time later.

A crime scene was established and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident commenced.

As inquiries continue, police have released CCTV footage of two people who may be able to assist them with their inquiries.

The first person is depicted in the images as wearing a black hooded jumper with white writing across the front, a black backpack, black tracksuit pants, white shoes, a white glove on the right hand, and was riding a white and black mountain bike.

The second person is depicted as wearing a black 'spray' jacket with a white emblem in the left hand corner, black tracksuit pants, gloves which were possibly blue and orange in colour, white 'Asics' shoes, and they were seen riding a black motorized scooter.

Police are also investigating two other separate incidents of graffiti in Sydney today.

Officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were notified about 6.30am after graffiti was spray painted on a house on Henry Street, Queens Park, as well as five parked and unattended cars and a trailer on the same street.

It's believed the incident occurred between 11.30pm yesterday (Friday 10 January 2025) and 6.30am today.

A crime scene has been established and investigations continue.

Offensive comments written on a poster on Marrickville Road, Marrickville, were also reported to police today, which is under investigation.
