CCTV Released in Lake Macquarie Fire Inquiry

Detectives have released further images as an investigation continues into a suspected arson attack at Lake Macquarie late last year.

About 3.50am on Wednesday 27 November 2024, emergency services were called to a building on Main Road, Speers Point, following reports of a fire.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District attended and found a council building well alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews worked to extinguish the blaze; however, the building sustained significant damage.

Police established a crime scene and inquiries into the fire commenced under Strike Force Komiatum.

Inquiries by strike force detectives earlier established that two persons were in the vicinity of the council building at the time of the incident.

Police have now released CCTV images of a dark grey utility seen in the area around the time of the incident.

Anyone able to identify the persons or vehicle, or with CCTV/dashcam from the area, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
