CCTV Released in Suspicious Central Coast Boat Fire

Police have released CCTV footage as part of an appeal for information as an investigation into a suspicious boat fire on the Central Coast.

About 10.50pm on Wednesday 4 September 2024, emergency services were called to Frying Pan Bay at Summerland Point following reports of a boat fire.

On arrival, police located a blue and white yacht fully alight on its mooring. The fire was extinguished; however, the boat was destroyed and subsequently sunk.

Officers attached to the NSW Police Force's Marine Area Command commenced inquiries into the incident under Strike Force Penwick.

As part of ongoing inquiries, detectives have released CCTV footage of a vehicle and two men they believe might be able to assist.

Police wish to speak with the driver and any occupants of a vehicle, described as a silver Toyota Echo, that was seen in the area at the time of the incident, as well as two men who were seen on the waterfront and among other vessels prior to the fire.
