The Country Education Foundation of West Wyalong (CEF West Wyalong) is calling on West Wyalong and Ungarie locals to attend a community information session on Tuesday 8th August at TAFE West Wyalong.
CEF West Wyalong Information Session
Location: TAFE West Wyalong
Address: 86 Wootten St, West Wyalong NSW 2671
Date: Tuesday 8th August, 2023
Time: 6pm
The community information session, hosted by CEF West Wyalong with the Country Education Foundation of Australia (CEF), will provide information on how locals can be community champions and support CEF West Wyalong and keep it thriving.
CEF representatives will also visit West Wyalong High School and Ungarie High School on the day to inform local youth on how they can access financial support for further education and training through its initiatives.
CEF West Wyalong offers grants and scholarships to youth in Bland Shire for their further education endeavors, with CEF offering co-funding opportunities to eligible students as well.
CEF Head of Communities and Development, Lisa Carrick, said support from the public was key to keep providing local students with funding opportunities.
"CEF's community-based model relies on the support of our fabulous volunteers who have the best interests of the community and local youth at heart," she said.
CEF West Wyalong was established in 2008, with the first grants awarded in 2009.
It has supported 115 students from Bland Shire to the tune of $139,000, with additional partnership and co-funding opportunities provided to these students from CEF Australia. These grants and opportunities have provided in excess of $250,000 in funding to local youth in this area.
CEF is a national for-purpose organisation that helps rural and regional youth aged between 16 and 25 access post-school education, training and employment through grants, scholarships, support services and resources.
Students that live in or attend school in the locations of each local foundation, of which there are currently 45 across Australia, are eligible to apply for grant and scholarship funding that they can put towards various expenses related to their education, such as accommodation and equipment.
Students granted funding by their local foundation are also considered for extra funding through the CEF's national 'CEF Extra' program, which works with university and philanthropic partners to provide scholarships where students meet a scholarship's eligibility criteria.
The community information session will begin at 6pm on Tuesday 8th August at TAFE West Wyalong, with representatives from CEF West Wyalong and CEF Australia on deck to provide information and answer questions.
