Cemetery Maintenance To Start On Monday

Council will undertake maintenance to the mausoleums and columbariums at five cemeteries, starting on Monday 12 August.

Works will include pressure washing, waterproofing, tile replacements, painting, maintenance to mausoleum vents and whirly birds, and marble/stone waxing and polishing.

Council will be removing all adornments, fresh and artificial flowers from mausoleums and columbariums to allow for the maintenance works.

Families are encouraged to collect any items of significance or value before works begin on Monday 12 August as Council will not be retaining any removed items.

Due to the volume of tributes, it is unviable to store and replace the adornments and flowers in their original positions after maintenance works.

Works will occur at the following cemeteries:

  • Gordonvale cemetery: 12 August to 26 August
  • Forest View cemetery: 13 August to 3 September
  • Babinda cemeteries: 14 August to 6 September
  • Martyn Street cemetery: 15 August to 12 September.
