Central Coast Man Charged With Child Abuse Material

A Central Coast man will appear before court today charged by Sex Crimes Squad detectives for allegedly possessing thousands of files containing child abuse material.

In July 2024, detectives attached to State Crime Command's Sex Crimes Squad Child Internet Exploitation Unit (CIEU), launched an investigation into the alleged access of child abuse material by a Central Coast man under Strike Force Glandore.

As a result of the extensive investigation, strike force detectives executed a search warrant about 6.50am yesterday (Monday 8 July 2024), at a home in Hamlyn Terrace.

During the search detectives located a mobile phone which has been seized for forensic examination.

A short time later, detectives arrested a 36-year-old man at a Mayfield address.

He was taken to Waratah Police Station where he was charged with seven counts of use carriage service to access child abuse material.

The 36-year-old was refused bail by detectives to appear before Newcastle Local Court today (Tuesday 9 July 2024).

Police will allege in court the man was in possession of several thousand images and videos of child abuse material.

Investigations under strike force Glandore continue.
