Central Goldfields Shire Interim CEO Appointed

At a Special Council Meeting last night (30/07), Councillors appointed Sally Jones as Central Goldfields Shire Interim Chief Executive Officer - commencing Monday 2 September.

Sally brings with her 24 years of Local Government experience, most recently as the General Manager Community Strengthening at Kingston City Council.

Sally has held executive positions across multiple directorates in both metropolitan and rural councils, including Acting CEO positions on a number of occasions.

The appointment follows the resignation of current CEO Lucy Roffey after six years of dedicated service.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Liesbeth Long said Council was pleased to welcome Sally to the role following a thorough and competitive recruitment process.

"It was really important for us as a Council, to appoint an interim CEO with extensive local government experience. We have full confidence that Sally is best placed to lead our organisation as we work towards a permanent appointment.

"We all look forward to working closely with Sally for the remainder of our term."

"Sally will be with us for approximately nine months and will lead the organisation through a pivotal time - starting with the October Council Elections, followed by overseeing the Councillor induction program and supporting the newly elected Council as they commence the task of appointing a new, permanent CEO in 2025."

Sally Jones said she was honoured and very excited to accept the role as Interim CEO at this critical time for the Central Goldfields Shire.

"I'm looking forward to working with the existing Mayor and Councillors, ensuring a smooth transition through Council election processes.

"Key priorities for me will be getting to know the local community and business sector and leading the organisation through the transition to a new Council."

Central Goldfields Shire General Manager Community Wellbeing Emma Little will be Acting CEO between Lucy's departure on 21 August through until Sally's commencement on Monday 2 September.
