Murray River Council has this week announced the resignation of CEO Terry Dodds PSM.
Mr Dodds, who handed in his resignation last Friday, will be leaving the Council at the start of November 2024.
Mr Dodds said it has been an honour to be the CEO of the council for nearly four years.
"From my perspective it has certainly been a privilege to be able to live and work in a Council that has such a receptive and passionate community," Mr Dodds said.
"It will be sad to move on, but I made the decision to leave to take up new opportunities as CEO of Livingstone Shire Council (QLD).
Mr Dodds has been CEO of Murray River Council since February 2021 and has made a number of contributions to the community during his tenure.
Some of his noted highlights were observing the way the staff and community banded together to defend itself during the floods, the warmly received concept plan for the Meninya Street Redevelopment, and improvements in staff culture.
Murray River Council mayor, John Harvie said the CEO's resignation came as a shock and acknowledged Mr Dodds' contribution during his term.
"Terry has achieved some great outcomes for this Council and has been a strong and effective leader during his time here."
"He has undoubtedly played a major role in bringing more stability and structure to the organisation, putting us in good stead for the future."
"It is with regret that we accept Terry's resignation, but we certainly wish him all the best," Cr Harvie said.
Murray River Council will now commence the process of recruiting for a new CEO.
