Cessnock City Council is proud to launch a dynamic heritage program beginning in March. Talking History 2024 includes three exciting exhibitions, history tours at pubs, the ever-popular history walks, and even a behind-the-scenes tour of the local studies collection in the basement of Cessnock City Library.
All exhibitions showcase the rich history and culture of Cessnock and surrounding suburbs, providing visitors with a greater understanding of our town's past.
The behind-the-scenes tour of the library basement will give visitors an exclusive glimpse into the library's archives and resources, while the history walks will provide a glimpse into our region's past.
This year, we have added a new walk in Ellalong to our line-up, alongside returns to Greta, Chinamans Hollow, and Weston. The walks offer a unique opportunity to explore the rich history of these areas and learn about the people and events that have shaped them.
Library Services Coordinator, Rose-marie Walters, encourages the community to take advantage of this exciting program.
"Join us in exploring Cessnock's heritage through our dynamic program for 2024! From exhibitions to behind-the-scenes tours and history walks, there is something for everyone to uncover of the city's past," said Ms Walters.
"The events are open to everyone, and best of all, they're free.
"Don't miss out on this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for Cessnock's heritage and history through our fantastic programs. Reserve your place today."
Bookings are essential for all events. The full Local Studies program can be found at Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Libraries, or by searching forTalking History Events 2024 via this link.
