Works on the ever-popular Bridges Hill Skatepark in Cessnock have been completed with the upgraded park now open to the public.
The works, funded by the NSW Government, included demolition of the old skatepark and construction of upgraded ramps, rails, and bowls to improve the skating experience for local enthusiasts.
Additional seating areas for parents, spectators, and non-skaters were also installed.
Park users and local skaters helped to design the upgrades through a multi-stage community engagement process, meaning the new facilities were designed by skaters for skaters.
The park features a unique design with transition, open bowls and street sections providing different experiences for riders of all skill levels.
It is a short ride away from the main street of Cessnock and located alongside the region's destination adventure playground and halfcourt basketball court.
This project has improved the safety and functionality of the park, and provided an inclusive space for young people that can be used for recreation and engagement.
Council received $592,000 from the NSW Government to complete the project.
Construction works on the park commenced in February 2023.
