The CFMEU has warned employers across Australia that workers will not be intimidated by corporate thuggery after a company failed to stop a lawful strike in Brisbane.
Hired muscle from labour hire firm Matrix Unlimited approached protesters at the Dutton Park Cross River Rail Site on Wednesday.
CFMEU members were undertaking protected industrial action in response to major contractor CPB's refusal to reach a deal on reasonable pay and conditions.
CFMEU National Secretary Zach Smith said union members would not be intimidated by the grubby tactics.
"CPB are nothing more than disgraceful corporate thugs trying to intimidate workers through strike-breaking tactics that belong to a bygone era," he said.
"Workers have a democratic right to take industrial action when companies flat-out refuse to constructively negotiate on fair pay and safer working conditions.
"CPB must drop its bully-boy goon show and get serious about sitting down with workers to find a fair deal.
"This should be a lesson to employers around Australia. Our union will not be intimidated.
"We make no apology for standing firmly against corporate thuggery and using our democratic rights to achieve better outcomes for workers."
