Sexual Crime Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a sexual assault in Chadstone in January.
Investigators have been told a woman was walking along Coolac Street, after leaving a party, when she stopped by a group of males in a car on Monday 21 January about 1am.
The woman spoke briefly with the men before she was sexually assaulted. She managed to break away from the attack and walk away.
It's believed there were four men in the car at the time of the incident, all of which can be described as having dark skin and aged in their 30's.
Police have released facial composite images of two of the men and an image of inside the distinctive older model car, which is described as a big or long sedan with a cream or similar leather interior.
Detectives have conducted extensive enquiries, speaking with residents of the street including conducting a letter drop in the area soon after the alleged incident occurred.
A local canvas of CCTV has failed to assist investigators with the investigation.
