Chair sought for Northern Prawn Fishery Resource Assessment Group

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) is seeking applications for the Chair position on the Northern Prawn Fishery Resource Assessment Group (NPRAG).

The Northern Prawn Fishery (NPF) operates in Northern Australian Waters targeting prawn species.

The NPRAG is the principle forum where issues relating to scientific assessment and status of the Northern Prawn Fishery are discussed, reviewed and developed. It provides AFMA with scientific and economic advice on the biological, economic and wider ecological factors affecting the fishery and RAG advice is used to inform AFMA's management decisions.

AFMA's policy document Fisheries Administration Paper 12 (FAP 12) - Resource Assessment Groups provides information about the roles of RAG Chairs and their members.

The NPRAG Chair appointment will be from 1 April 2021 until 1 March 2024 in line with the rest of the RAG's terms of appointment.

How do I apply for RAG membership?

To be considered for the Chair position on NPRAG please submit your curriculum vitae and a brief cover note (no more than 500 words) addressing the relevant criteria under 4.2 of FAP 12 for the position and summarising your relevant experience, qualifications and reason for your application.

Selection Process

Applications will be assessed by a selection panel against the selection criteria described in the FAP 12.
