Change In Processing Of Aged Care Assessments

The Commonwealth Government introduced changes to the aged care assessment process, effective from 1 July 2024. These changes are part of the ongoing aged care sector reform agenda and aim to streamline and simplify the assessment process for older adults who require services.

After a long history of providing an exceptional assessment service to our Bayside community, Bayside City Council and other Councils in our region are no longer contracted by the Commonwealth to conduct assessments of older people needing assistance to remain independent and safe at home.

All other aged care services such as cleaning assistance, personal care, respite, socialisation and meals provided by Council remain unchanged. We remain totally committed to support you and your loved ones to live in the comfort of your own home for as long as possible through our trusted aged care service, Bayside Care and Support.

How will aged care assessments now be carried out?

The Commonwealth Government has appointed new assessment organisations, Serendipity, Aspire 4 Life and Access Care Network Australia to deliver assessment services to our residents.
