The "Changemakers: Crafting a Difference" exhibition, set to commence on Wednesday, 23 October at the Swan Hill Regional Library, will present a collection of textile banners crafted by craftivist and artist, Dr Tal Fitzpatrick.
Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery Director, Ian Tully, expressed his enthusiasm to be hosting the exhibition in the Art Gallery's temporary home, the Swan Hill Library.
"We're delighted to present this exhibition at our temporary space, the Swan Hill Library. The thought-provoking nature of the artworks aligns perfectly with the library's environment for learning and discovery."
"We're hosting a grand opening on Wednesday 23 October, from 6pm to 8pm. Dr Fitzpatrick will be there to share insights into her captivating banners. We invite everyone to join us for this special evening," added Mr Tully.
In addition to the exhibition, Dr Fitzpatrick will conduct a Changemakers Workshop on Thursday, 24 October, from 10.00am to 12.30pm at the Swan Hill Library.
"We are thrilled to let the community know that Dr Fitzpatrick will lead an empowering workshop. She will demonstrate to participants how the comforting presence of textiles can facilitate difficult conversations,"
"We encourage everyone to attend this workshop and witness how Dr Fitzpatrick addresses challenging issues through her textile banners. It's an opportunity to start meaningful conversations using craft as a form of expression," said Mr Tully.
The workshop is a free event, and all materials along with refreshments will be supplied. Participants will create a banner which they will take home.
"Materials will be supplied on the day. Participants are encouraged to bring any materials they would like included on their banner, as they will be taking their banners home," explained Mr Tully.
"Changemakers: Crafting a Difference" is part of the touring exhibition by the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) at Old Parliament House.
