The Spilt Milk music festival will be held on Saturday 25 November 2023 at Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC).
Traffic management arrangements will be in place and there will be changes to bus and light rail services during the event which runs from 11.00 am until 11.00 pm.
Road closures and timing of road closures:
- Flemington Road between Sandford Street and the Federal Highway will be closed from 9.00 am on Saturday 25 November to 1.00 am on Sunday 26 November 2023.
- Federal Highway between Antill Street and Barton Highway will be closed between 7.00 pm on Saturday 25 November to 1.00 am on Sunday 26 November 2023.
Changes for traffic:
- These closures will apply to all regular traffic.
- Traffic management will be in place around the closures.
- Delays are expected.
- Road users should seek an alternate route where possible.
- Signage and detours will be in place.
Changes for public transport:
- Large crowds heading to and from the Spilt Milk festival at EPIC are expected on light rail services throughout the day.
- A special event light rail timetable will be in place with increased frequency from 11.00 am to
6.00 pm and 9.00 pm to 1.30 am.
- To help traffic flow from departing crowds, light rail services will not stop at Swinden Street, Phillip Avenue and Sandford Street stops from 9.00 pm until last service.
- From approximately 10.30 pm, a number of additional light rail services will operate to help manage pedestrian flow from departing crowds by only operating from EPIC and Racecourse to Alinga Street before looping back to pick up more passengers.
- Passengers departing northbound from Alinga Street are asked to check passenger information displays and PA announcements regarding operating services.
- Due to the road closures, bus route 18 will be diverted and will not service Bimberi for the duration of Saturday 25 November.
- Free event shuttle buses (coordinated by festival organisers through CDC) will be available to and from the event with pickup locations at Belconnen and City Interchanges between 11.00 am to 5.00 pm, dropping off at EPIC.
- Return shuttles will operate only from EPIC to the City interchange from 8.00 pm. Event attendees can then continue their journey using regular Transport Canberra bus services.
- All other bus services travelling to Gungahlin, and from Gungahlin to the City, will still be serviced.
Changes for Park and Ride:
- Due to the festival, the EPIC Park and Ride facility will be closed from 7.00 am on Friday 24 November until 7.00 pm on Sunday 26 November 2023.
- People who wish to use the EPIC Park and Ride facility are asked to use the nearby Park and Ride facility at Well Station Drive.
Separate to the free event shuttle buses coordinated by festival organisers, event attendees can also travel for free on any Transport Canberra bus or light rail service on the event day. Attendees simply present their ticket to the Transport Canberra bus driver or CMET Customer Service Officer if requested.
