Changing of guard at Air Command

RAAF

Air Command leadership has been celebrated this week, with news that its two most senior aviators will be changing over mid-year.

Air Marshal Darren Goldie has now handed over the role of Air Commander Australia to Air Vice Marshal Glen Braz late last month at a ceremony at RAAF Base Glenbrook.

Air Marshal Goldie extended his thanks to all Air Command aviators for their dedication and support.

"In 2022, I gave you all my Air Commander's intent," Air Marshal Goldie said.

"As part of that, I said my first focus was meeting and listening to as many of you as possible, to ensure that the voice of our people was one which was being heard.

"Thank you for allowing me to listen; it has been an honour to have been your Air Commander this past year and I look forward to taking the lessons you have all given me into my next role, continuing our mission in defence of Australia's national interests.

"To Air Vice Marshal Braz, Blitz: I wish you all the best in an incredible role."

Taking up the role of Senior Enlisted Adviser to Air Commander Australia from Warrant Officer Raylee Scott from early July will be Warrant Officer Stephen Weaver.

Warrant Officer Scott said she was proud to have served the people of Air Command during her appointment.

"It has been an absolute career highlight and I can think of no other more suited than Steve to take on the challenge," Warrant Officer Scott said.

"He is an exceptional leader and I wish him well as the new Air Command Warrant Officer."

Newly appointed Air Commander Australia, Air Vice Marshal Glen Braz, thanked Air Marshal Goldie and Warrant Officer Scott for their hard work and commitment to Air Force's people.

"To both Air Marshal Goldie and also Warrant Officer Scott, I am so thankful to you both and what you have all achieved," Air Vice Marshal Braz said.

"I feel humbled to have been presented this opportunity as Air Commander and I thank everyone for their kind messages of support.

"For me, I have spent nearly all my career within Air Command in various capacities. In a way, it is a bit like coming home."

He also congratulated Air Marshal Goldie on his "well-deserved promotion".

"Your selection to this role is highly reflective of your successes and talent in providing ongoing service to the nation of Australia. To you and Warrant Officer Scott, I wish you all the best and thank you for your work within Air Command," Air Vice Marshal Braz said.

Air Marshal Goldie is leaving Air Command to take up the inaugural role of National Cyber Security Coordinator.

Also leaving Air Command will be Deputy Air Command Australia, Air Commodore Harvey Reynolds, who has been appointed as Deputy Chief of Air Force from August this year.
