Charge After Unauthorised Protest - Hunter Valley 3 July

A woman has been charged following an unauthorised protest near Maitland overnight.

About 10.30pm (Tuesday 2 July 2024), police were called to the rail corridor at Singleton following reports a person had allegedly entered the rail corridor and were causing obstruction to trains.

Officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District, with assistance from Police Rescue, attended the site and arrested a 22-year-old woman from Victoria.

She was taken to Singleton Police Station, where she was charged with enter enclosed lands - serious safety risk, cause obstruction to railway locomotive & interfere with equipment and enter enclosed lands.

She was refused bail to appear before a Muswellbrook Local Court today (Wednesday 3 July 2024).
