A man has been charged after about $900,000 worth of cocaine was allegedly found inside a car in the state's north yesterday.
About 11am (Wednesday 11 August 2021), officers attached to Coffs Harbour Traffic & Highway Patrol stopped a white SUV on the Pacific Highway at Bonville – 14km south of Coffs Harbour.
The driver, a 28-year-old man, underwent a roadside drug test that allegedly returned a positive result.
In a subsequent search of the vehicle, police located three packages of a white powder on the back seat, believed to be cocaine. Police also seized two mobile phones.
The three packages, weighing approximately 3.6kg in total, have an estimated potential street value of approximately $900,000. The packages have been sent for further forensic examination.
The man was arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity).
The Gold Coast man was refused bail to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court today (Thursday 12 August 2021).
