Charges, dangerous driving, stolen vehicle Urraween and Dundowran

Police have arrested and charged two teenage boys after an alleged stolen vehicle was crashed and abandoned at Dundowran earlier today.

It will be alleged a vehicle was stolen following the break-in of a Urraween home just after midnight (February 10).

Police received reports from the public about a vehicle allegedly being driven erratically on the Bruce Highway at Tiaro at around 2pm.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle on Pialba-Burrum Heads Road however the vehicle failed to stop and sped off.

The vehicle was located in Dundowran Beach around 2.20pm, crashed into a ditch, with the two male occupants fleeing on foot.

Police located the pair soon after on the beach.

The boys, aged 15 and 17 and both from Eli Waters, have been charged with (child under 18) burglary, enter premises and commit indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and receiving tainted property.

The 15-year-old has also been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade police, unlicensed driving and unlawful possession of a knife in a public place.

Both will spend tonight in police custody after being refused police bail. They are due to appear in the Hervey Bay Children's Court.
