A 20-year-old Yorkeys Knob man is due to face court later this month, following the completion of an investigation into a fatal traffic crash that occurred earlier this year, Queensland Police say.
The incident occurred at a private property on Jerome Road at Barrine, near Lake Tinaroo late on the night of February 18.
It will be alleged that the man was the driver of a utility which was carrying one 20-year-old man in the passenger seat, and three men aged 19, 20 and 21 on the open rear tray when the vehicle overturned.
A 19-year-old Kewarra Beach man sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The two other men on the tray with him also sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospital.
Investigators from the Cairns Forensic Crash Investigation Unit spoke with the man at the Cairns Police Station yesterday. He was issued with a notice to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on December 18.
He will face one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and grievous bodily harm, being in charge of a vehicle whilst a relevant drug was present in his blood, and low range drink driving (provisional licence holder over the no alcohol limit but not over the general alcohol limit).
