A man is due to face court today, charged over alleged domestic violence and pursuit offences.
About 7am on Thursday (17 July 2025), police were called to a house in Budgewoi following reports of a domestic violence incident.
Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District were told a woman had allegedly been assaulted by a man known to her and had her property damaged. The man had left the scene before police arrived.
The man was found in a car on Tenth Avenue, Budgewoi, a short time later, and was followed to Natuna Avenue, where they attempted to stop the car. When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit was terminated a short time later when police lost sight of the vehicle on Sunrise Avenue.
Police located the man at Buff Point boat ramp a short time later. The man allegedly reversed the vehicle towards police before driving through a pedestrian footpath, over a curb and from the scene.
The car was found on Buff Point Avenue, where it hit the police vehicle after allegedly failing to stop and give way. No injuries were reported.
The pursuit was then re-initiated on Scenic Drive at Doyalson but was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.
Following further inquiries, about 9pm yesterday (Saturday 19 July 2025), police arrested a 37-year-old man in Budgewoi.
He was taken to Wyong Police Station, where he was charged with eight offences,

- Common assault (DV)
- Destroy or damage property (DV)
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed
- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
- Not give particulars to other driver
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, and
- Drive while licence cancelled
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 20 July 2025).
