Charges Filed in Katherine Attempted Abduction

Northern Territory Police have now charged a man in relation to an attempted abduction in Katherine on Thursday.

The 19-year-old man was arrested after the initial reported incident and investigators will also allege another female child was approached in a similar way, around the same time.

The man has been charged with:

  • 2 x Attempted abduction
  • 2 x Aggravated assault

He has been further remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on Tuesday 6 August 2024.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Ordelman said "We would like to thank the large number of people who have come forward with footage that has proven very helpful in this investigation.

"Detectives believe there may have been further children approached by this man in the late afternoon of Thursday 1 August 2024, around the Sports Grounds, along the Stuart Highway in Katherine.
